Hi,
I just had John Beinek from Church Services come and inspect our house because we are in the same situation as you. He did a wonderful job explaining what options there are and made some proposals. I was pleased and will use them in the future. FYI the extra winter rebate expires this week and the low interest financing with Velosity expires in May, so you may want to take advantage of those deals before they expire.
Best,

Can someone give an estimate on how much this tends to cost? Thanks? Also how much did you see your utility bills decrease?

We used Faught Services from the contractor listing based on an engineer's recommendation. They added insulation, caulked doors, windows, pipes etc..and added solar screens plus new ac & heat. We have been so pleased with all they did and continue with them as have a lot of our neighbors and friends.

Conservation Services did a fantastic job on our house about 3 years ago. They added insulation in the attic, weather-stripping around the doors, caulked where the pipes come in under the sink, added solar screens, etc. We also got a new HVAC put in at that time. The electric bill went way down and the house is much more comfortable.

Subject: [LONA] Making our house more energy efficient: Recommended Contractors?
-----------------------------
Hi all,
We're new to the neighborhood (moved to Blackmoor/DK Ranch last June) and we love it here.
Our house is about 30 years old and the previous owners hadn't done much to keep up the insulation, heaters, etc. Our utility bills have been much higher than expected, so we're looking to do some work to save money down the road.
AustinEnergy.com offers up a list of contractors who will do an inspection and make recommendations.
Here's the short link listing the contractors (a .pdf file, see Page 2): http://bit.ly/1m2BEiZ
Has anyone recently had a contractor/inspecto r come by to do an inspection and make energy saving recommendations? Does anyone have any knowledge of any of the contractors on the list in the attached link?
We're also looking to reduce lawn square footage and replace with alternate cover to lower our water usage... If people have recommendations about contractors or other DIY solutions, we'd love to hear them.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Jason & Liza Schklar jschklar@gmail.com
