Tom Dunne
Tom Dunne (Venard Special Student 9/57, GE 1/58 - Fall 1960)
I arrived at the Venard in the Fall of 1957 as a "Special", and
continued my Freshman year at Glen Ellyn in January of 1958 - Left
Maryknoll (Do we ever "leave" Maryknoll?) in the Fall of '60 and spent
my Senior year at DePaul in Chicago - Graduated in '61, graduated from
Navy Officer Candidate School in the Spring of '62 and from Underwater
Demolition Team ("Frogman") training in the summer of '62. Served in
Vietnam and the Western Pacific until my active duty commitment was
up, and later spent three years with a reserve SEAL team.
Here is a story of an event in Vietnam that caused me to shift to a
vocation of peacebuilding, which I have been doing ever since. I hope
you enjoy, and please feel free to incorporate it into your website.
