From Bill Dillon Hi Venarders, as you know Jim McCormick and I have been planning on a visit to Summit University this spring to commemorate the 50th year closing of the Venard. We feel it best to leave it loose and free so that folks can do their own thing, walking the grounds and buildings, raiding the refectory, paying calls on old friends at Lourdesmont. Summit University has suggested the May 19 - 21 weekend as a good choice, and we agree. We think it makes most sense to plan this visit without a firm agenda/itinerary so that everyone can feel free to do whatever and with whomever they want. We will have a tour on Saturday with time to wander the grounds as well as plenty of time throughout the weekend for individual activities. The university suggested the Clarks Summit Ramada Inn and they have rooms set aside with the Summit University discount of $79. Rooms are guaranteed until April 20th (rooms will likely still be available even if you reserve a room after April 20th). I've pasted a list of other hotels (you may be able to get a better deal through sites like expedia.com or booking.com) and some restaurants in the area. We hope you'll give this weekend jaunt some thought - we'll be back to you in a month or so to gauge interest and get a feel for who might be joining us. Jim with the help of many of you has put together an amazing list of Maryknollers and he is still looking to add even more contact information for those not yet lucky enough to have been found.
