Here is an appropriate poem describing the site.
It was submitted by Tom Fenton on behalf of his
wife Mary Heffron, after a visit to the Knoll and
a walk down the main hallway in the Center, examining
every portrait of classes from the good old days
to the present. She also visited the Society cemetery.
Last stanza of "The Municipal Gallery Re-visited"
by William Butler Yeats
You that would judge me, do not judge alone
This book or that, come to this hallowed place
Where my friends' portraits hang and look thereon;
Ireland's [Maryknoll's] history in their lineaments trace;
Think where man's glory most begins and ends
And say my glory was I had such friends.
